11/24 Update: The signing of first baseman Andy Tracy means that Burnham the best hitter on this year's Lynx will likely sign elsewhere. He started at first for the R-Phils from 1999-2001 and became a fan favorite. He turned in a fine season in '01 hitting.318 with 15 homers and 77 RBI in 101 games. The Phillies however didn't see Burnham as a prospect and sent him to the Blue Jays. He hit decently well at the AAA level for the next three years but ended up in the independent Atlantic League. Burnham resurrected his Phillies career in 2006 when he signed again with Reading. He was older and smarter at this point and compensated for his decreased speed with intelligence and improved plate discipline. He raked in Reading--.341. 16 home runs and 60 RBI in 80 games. He hit.391 in a short stint in Scranton at the end of that season. This past season he hit cleanup for Ottawa and drove in 84 runs--no small feat in one of AAA ball's worst lineups. He hit.292 and got on base at a.391 clip though he scored only 59 runs thanks to poor hitting behind him in the order. With the Iron Pigs needing wins to please their new fan base the veteran first sacker should be retained. He'll be 33 but isn't the type of player who would lose much at this age. I'd pencil him in for a.300 average. .400 OBP. .450 slugging. 15 home runs and 85 RBI.
